About the Presentation:
People are often faced with complex information and treatment decisions when it comes to their healthcare. Healthy literacy is the ability to understand health information and to use that information to make good decisions about your health and medical care. Health information can overwhelm even people with advanced literacy skills. With the move towards a more "consumer-centric" health care system as part of an overall effort to improve the quality of health care and to reduce health care costs, individuals need to take an even more active role in health care related decisions. Please join us to learn more about what health literacy really means and why improving healthy literacy skills is important to the social and economic health of our community.
